When Leon Griffith needed an intake manifold fabricated for his D/MGR LSR car he entrusted the project to Alex Mikkelsen at American Roadster. The engine, built by John Beck at Pro Machine, is a 302 cu in billet aluminum Rodeck small block Chevy fitted with special (for this project) Brodex billet aluminum heads. The fuel system is an Enderle hat converted to port injection. It was Alex's job to fill the gap between the heads and the injector. |

Starting with a Hilborn valley cover, Mikkelsen first fabricated the intake plates fitted to the intake ports. |

 |
Round aluminum tubes would be the basis for the intake runners. |

 |
After the runners were formed they were strategically placed on the intake plates and welded. |

Fitted with the injector the engine was ready for the dyno. |

Alex oversees the dyno tests. |

The end result was a very impressive 591 HP on gas. |
